Age Spots/Sun Spots
Sun spots, also called age spots, liver spots or solar lentigenes, are flat brown spots that are one of the biggest give-aways to someone's age. As suggested by their name, they are caused by sun exposure and occur on sun damaged skin - usually the face, chest, hands, forearms and legs.
These spots can be treated with retinoid creams (Retin-A), microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and photofacials, all with varying success.
The most significant improvement is seen with the pulsed light treatment - the Photofacial - which after 5 treatments lightens or removes the spots altogether.
The face, chest and hands are the most popular areas to be treated.
