Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is Acoustic Wave Therapy?
Will I loose weight and or inches as well as the "orange peel" look? Is there scientific proof that Acoustic Wave Therapy actually works? Acoustic wave therapy or AWT is a latest available treatment on the market for treating cellulite. Acoustic wave therapy uses the pressure waves to break up the fat cells under the skin. Pressure waves correct the connective tissue and release the dimples, by relaxing the connective tissue & strengthening it. This produces a smoother toned surface.
AWT is not a weight loss or fat loss system, it is for treating the look and feel of cellulite. However many women do experience some weight and or inch loss as a result of the treatment. At your first visit, we will take some photos of the area(s) to be treated, take your weight and take some measurements so that after the 6 treatments we can do these again and see the results of AWT.
Ultrasound pictures taken of the skin, confirm thickening of the dermis immediately after even one session. So yes, the Acoustic waves do work.
The procedure takes about 30 minutes for a single area. Extra time can be allocated for extra areas. Two sessions per week for 4 weeks is the standard recommendation for the average person. Some people may require more than 8 initial sessions to achieve the results they are looking for. This is followed by a single maintenance treatment every 3 months thereafter.
There is no pain serious associated with the treatment, patients will feel pressure, a sort of pummelling on the skin.
AWT is suitable for treatment mostly on the thighs, buttocks and arms. In some cases the stomach can be treated, as long as there’s cellulite present. Remember, AWT is not for fat loss treatment.
