Levulan Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)

Photodynamic therapy is an advanced treatment for sun damaged skin, acne and pre-cancerous lesions.

A specially formulated solution is applied to the skin and then preferentially absorbed by pre-cancerous cells (actinic keratosis), acne and enlarged oil glands. The chemical in the solution is then activated with the 'Blu-U' light or Starlux pulsed light device. This activation releases a toxin and kills the abnormal cells, thus effectively reducing pre-cancerous skin lesions, enlarged oil glands, and acne. Sun damaged skin and texture can also be improved with this therapy.  Dr. Oleszek calls this a 'targeted chemical peel' - only treating  the targeted  areas on the skin. This is a promising therapy for both teenage and mature skin alike.
