Irregular skin texture or uneveness of the skin is often caused by blemishes, enlarged oil glands, enlarged pores and sun damage. A regular program of microdermabrasion and chemical peels will soften and smooth the skin, creating a more healthy appearance. A Photofacial is the use of pulsed light to rejuvenate the skin, lighten sun spots and improve skin texture. For those of us with exposure to the high altitude sun or prior history of skin cancers, Levulan photodynamic therapy treats pre-cancerous areas (actinic keratosis), improves skin texture, decreases the size of oil glands and decreases acne fare-ups. When Levulan photodynamic therapy is used along with pulsed light, we call this the 'Super Photofacial,' which can show dramatic effects with a minimal down-time. 'Super Photofacials' are not just for the face, but the hands and chest can also be treated.
