Sculptra works by stimulating your body’s natural collagen production rather than simply filling in lines or wrinkles. As collagen production slows with age, the skin begins to lose firmness and volume, leading to sagging and deeper facial folds. Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible substance that encourages your skin to gradually rebuild its own structural support over time.
Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers that provide immediate volume and fade within a year or so, Sculptra works beneath the surface to restore fullness gradually, with results that can last more than two years. The critical ingredient in Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid, or “PLLA.” The microparticles of PLLA are absorbed in the skin structure, functioning to stimulate natural collagen production.
